Keno Introduction.

Keno is one of those games you either know about or you don't. It's basically considered a lotto in the casino. Like the lotto, the game consists of numbers drawn. The object is to pick the numbers that come up. The game of Keno can either be fast or slow depending on the casino. By playing Keno online you can control the pace of the game. There are also keno machines. Personally, I like live keno. You sit in a lounge, if you want, and play. Keno is a game that you don't have to be present to play and win. For instance, you could put in a ticket for 20 games and then go play something else in the casino.

The game of Keno is pretty simple. In this article I will go over some of the basics of the game setup and rules. It's a piece of cake, so let's get going.

Keno Board :

The game is played on a board. The Keno board consists of eighty total numbers – number 1 though 80. The first forty are called the top half and the second forty are called the bottom half.

Playing Keno :

Each game of Keno goes the same. The game starts and twenty numbers are drawn. If you are playing live keno, they may have the ball system. Ping pong style balls are sucked up and chosen just like the lotto on TV. Other live Keno departments use computers. If a number you selected is chosen, that's called a "hit". When all twenty numbers are selected, the game ends and winning tickets are paid.

There is a lot of diversity in the game of Keno. For instance you can select one number, two numbers and so forth – up to 15 or 20 numbers. Usually you need to hit most of your numbers to win something. For instance if you select six numbers you will usually need to hit 3 to get your money back.

Keno Payouts :

The payouts in Keno are pretty high. The probability of winning depends on the total numbers selected. For instance if you select two numbers, you have a 6% probability of hitting your ticket. Every casino's Keno department has their own payouts. There is also a difference in pay between live Keno and machines. If you are going to play online, make sure you shop around for the best payouts first.

In downtown Las Vegas, there is one casino for instance that pays $1,000 if you hit all six of your numbers on your forty-cent ticket. That's a pretty nice payout. Increase your numbers to seven or eight and you get into the $5,000-$10,000 range.

If you have never played Keno, give it a shot. You just might like it, and you can win big. If you go to Las Vegas, try live Keno at the El Cortez (cheap keno) or the Red Rock casino.
